Sarah Palin, 44, is John McCain’s running mate, according to a statement made this morning by the John McCain campaign. She is currently serving her first term as Governor.

Her political resume includes mayor and council member of Wasila, a small town in Alaska. She has been Governor of Alaska since 2006.

In a press release on the McCain website Governor Palin is credited with “challenging the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources,” according to the press release.
